A few days ago when I put my 95 855T in reverse(up a hill), it made a small clunk, and wouldn't reverse anymore. In fact, it goes forward in reverse now.
The other gears feel like the limp-home mode caused by a faulty pnp switch, however, no fault codes this time(In times past, I was able to avoid a pnp replacement w/ a good ratchet cleaning). The first thing that I did was replace the pnp switch...no change. Flushed the tranny w/16 qts...no change. I bought this car w/50k and it now has 76k. I have changed just the merconIII in the tranny only a couple of times since I've had the car(approx 4 qts both times). When I did the complete flush today, the fluid didn't look or smell very good. Could this be somthing besides a shot tranny? If not, is this premature failure? Any suggestions on the best and most affordable place to get a tranny(reman or rebuilt @ a shop?). If it is bad, I am considering doing it myself...I know I can do it, but I dread doing it.
Thanks guys...gonna have myself a few cold ones to wash away the pain...
