Rattle when depressing gas (usually only when cold) S40-V40

I have had my 2000 s40 in the dealer for this problem numerous times without any result. Does anyone else have a similar problem. For about 20 minutes after the car is started I get a rattle when going depressing the gas after being stopped. It seems to go away after a little while, but now it also seems to be getting worse.

This sounds like the ignition timing is wandering or the injectors are not weakening quick enough.
The system calls for a richer mixture on initial opening of the throttle and then leans out.
It may not be leaning out quick enough.

Do you get the rattle if you rock the car, side to side when parked. I had an annoying noise caused by rubbing of the handbrake cable towards the rear.

Where does this rattle noise come from? under the hood? my 2000 s40 has a
rattle sound when the accelerator is pressed, but it sounds like it is behind
the center dash vents, when the accelerator is released, the rattle stops. talk about annoying..does this sound like anything easy to fix ? the vents themselves are not loose.

My 2001 S40 did the same thing for a month or so. I tried really getting on it cold and that seemed to help a bit. But, one day, it was just gone. I think it had something to do with the CVT or maybe a tensioner on the T-belt, but now I'll never know.

    Hope yours heals itself, too!
