intermittent engine knock 850

I have intermittent engine knocking, very subtle but definite a ticking is noticeable. Additionally, the engine oil light comes on but flickers does not stay on permanently. Any ideas?

    There are some o-rings in the sump oil pickup in the oil pan. The o-ring on the sump is not seeling the pipe pn the block and it is sucking up air, thus the noise coming from the lifters.

    I had the same thing happen and the shop said it was my lifters (related to the oil). Sounds like it might be that for you as well, especially if the oil light comes on. Somehow though, the noise just disappeared.

    1993 850 GLT 98,000 miles
