Help Please- Strange Problem Electrical?? 850

Hi Guys,

Help .

I have a 1995 Volvo 850 turbo sedan.

This morning I went to the store- the car ran fine.

When I got in to come home, the car would not start and the Emergency Hazard Flashers were blinking. The hazard lights were NOT turned on at the switch.

Tried everything I knew- but no joy. Ran home (literally) got my neighbor and drove back 10 minutes later. Low and behold- the emergency flashers were off and the car started up fine.

What's going on?? Why would the hazard flashers be on (when the switch is in the off position) and the car not start?

Thanks

\

Are your flashers linked to the alarm?...just thinking that maybe the alarm was playing up, the siren didn't go off but the lights flashed and the immobiliser cut in?

Solution to Problem - Apparently and without me knowing it, I must have set the alarm system when I got in the car. When I turned the key, the immobilzer activated the flashers and locked out the ignition.

      Replicated the situation threee times.

As suggested - my alarm horn is apparently kaput/dead.

Many Thanks to All for the QUICK response !!!!!

Ha! I did the same thing but my horn worked. I accidently hit "Lock" when inside the car. When I hit the starter, the flashers came on and the horn started blowing in my driveway at 12:30 AM! There I sat like an idiot without a clue how to shut the damn thing off. Thank heavens we live way out in the boondocks and only the possems and coons heard it ( the wife slept thru w/o a clue)

        the village idiot.

Yeah, if my alarm horn had not been broken I would have put "2 and 2"
          together.

Nonetheless, it was quire a humbling experience given all the mechanical work I've done over the years.

Now I just need to figure out where to get an alarm horn fo less than the $58 my dealers wants.
