Strut Bushing or Strut Mount 850

I have a 97 850. I have seperation between the strut and either the bushing or the strut mount, but from the pictures of the parts online I can't tell which it is. When looking at the top of the strut from within the engine compartment the bolting nut for the the strut is attached to a piece of plastic that is NOT attached to what either appears to be the mount or the bushing. Has anyone purchased these before and figured out which piece is which. The bushing is approximately 30 dollars and the mount is approximately 110. The mount appears to contain the bearing and bolts etc to attach to the body at the top of the well. The bushing just appears to be a piece of plastic at the top of the strut assembly. Any helpful information would be greatly appreceiated. This question has been asked previously in the archives, but I couldn't find an answer that delineated which part was the culprit.

Strut Bushing or Strut Mount 850

The common failure or separation is the upper strut mount which in your case cost you about 30 dollars. This strut mount is made of rubber and is seated on top of the compressed spring. The metal mount (per your description) is actually a bearing on a metal plate. The metal plate has 3 screws pointing upward at 3 different corners. This metal mount seats on top of the rubber upper strut mount. Then a smaller metal center disc and the big strut nut are on top of the metal mount.

Call or check out FCP Groton on-line. They have some pics of some parts and you might like Nick's prices too!
