I recently noticed the drivers door hinge was broken inside the door. Door started making an awful sqauking noise as its opened and closed. i tried to grease the track on the hinge witch didnt help.Then looked at the track its off the roller in the door,loosened rollrer hinges,the bar in beetween is broke.
now the question ,is this hard to repalace and align? How much will the part cost and where should i buy it?

I think you are referring to the door strap. If your door still opens, but makes a funny noise while doing so and no longer has any spring type resistance as it opens (or the "notch") then this is what has broken and you need to get a new door stap device at the dealer (like $30 I think). 4 large screws hold it in if I remember correctly. It is easy to do, just requires a little manuvering to get it in place.

Yes you are correct, it is the part with the bar that slides on the rollers. not the hinges that hold the door on the car. Will get part and atempt repair myself. Will i need to remove inside enterior off door pannel to acesss it or can or just remove the four screws to work it into place ?

Just had the same problem in my '99 S70. You need to check to make sure the strap has not pulled away from the A-pillar. If it has, you need to have it re-welded. If it hasn't, you can remove the torx screw on the a-pillar side, put some thread lock on it and tighten it down. Then tighten the two on the door side. Mine needs re-welding- hope yours doesn't!

My 99 S70 has same issue. Needs to be welded. Has anyone contacted Volvo to see if they will pay for this repair. These are supposed to be such great cars. I've owned many cars, most of them less costly, and this is the first time I've had this happen. Unhappy Volvo owner.

This is my first volvo, bought used 1 year ago from volvo dealer. was supossed to be pre certified used volvo with warranty. Had abs module go out,front passenger door latch doesent always latch,and current drivers door track slider problem. Of all the prolems my local volvo dealer and warranty will not do any repairs with out me paying for them. As for my warranty it suppousedly only covers drive train ,If even that! sorry my local volvo dealer is jerks.Have no trust in them.
