COLD air blasts (in Winter) after turning engine on and off again V70-XC70 2001

After driving the vehicle (in Winter) for at least 20 minutes and then stopping, turning off the engine and turning the engine on again (maybe 5 or 10 minutes later) the cold air blasts. The heat is turned on (Auto), the A/C is off and the temp. controls haven't been touched. The cold air continues to blast until the temp is turned to the maximum (26 degrees celcius - I'm in Canada) and finally will warm up - but we are frozen by that time!

Anyone experience this or have suggestions??

Sounds like a temperature sensor unit on the switch.

I have noticed this in a 2001 V70 T5. Since the problem is intermittent, I have ignored it. Usually works fine. As I recall, you can get heat by overriding auto and going to manual zone heat. Best wishes; perhaps someone else will have insight into this.
