Slave cylender, or time for a new clutch? 850 1993

Recently, (since having new brakes done), my clutch is never grabbing at the same time twice. Sometimes it grabs at the top of the clutch, sometimes right at the bottom. When it grabs at the bottom, shifting becomes difficult. Clutch however never slips. Could it be slave cylender, or should I bite the bullet and get a new clutch?

Thanks!!!

Edit: Where does the hydralic clutch get its fluid from?

Actually it could be the clutch master cylinder, not the slave cylinder. The slave cylinder is relatively small and a failure is generally easy to spot because they leak a puddle on the ground or you see a low reservoir. The master cylinder is much bigger and may fail without showing you a visible leak, or the leak may be hidden by the carpet and sub-padding so that you can't see it or the internal piston seal may just be going bad and allowing blow-by of the fluid. Of course since you just had a brake job done it could also be a sign that the idiot that did your brakes tried to bleed the clutch master cylinder instead of the brake master cylinder and let air into the system. If thats the case you might only need to bleed the clutch hydraulic system and get that new feeling back. How does the fluid look in the clutch fluid reservoir? Time for a change?

    Mike

I had a feeling that there was a seperate clutch master cylender. I couldnt see Volvo of all car manufactures using the same cylender as the brakes. I tried to find it, but cant. Where is it??

One more question, how many KM should you get out of a clutch on average. I had a VW Jetta, 350,000 on the original clutch. Volvo comparable?

      Thanks again!

My 98 shares the same fluid resevoir between brakes and clutch.

It does not strike me as as safety issue since the fluid
resevoir is really all that is shared. The master cylinders are
          separate.
