SC-811 Changer problem 850

My original CD changer stopped working(I think), I put in a new one(Alpine CHA-S634), now I have the same problem still. I push the CD button but nothing happens, it is like the radio thinks there is no CD or the button is broken. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

SC-811 Changer problem 850

Randy:

I have the SC-811 radio/tape deck unit and had an Alpine 630 changer installed. The shop that did the installation didn't have time to have the radio code reset before I had to leave, so it wasn't checked out. Same problem--cd changer not recognized.

I took the car back the next day and they pulled the changer out and flipped a switch on the back of it. Voila! Everything worked. See if this might not be your problem.

Wish I could be a little more specific about what switch and exact location, but I was just the uneducated bystander.

Suzanne

Suzanne, I have the same setup and same problem, it would be EXTREMELY helpful if you could find out exaclty what the shop did!

Much appreciated.

Did the old changer pull the magazine in? Also, if the new changer is not Volvo OEM, you will need an adapter cable to make it work. In either case you might want to pull the head and make sure the DIN cable is plugged in tightly.

I bought the adapter that was applicable to the changer I bought, what is the DIN cable?
