Hi guys, I'm new here. I'm registered at Volvospeed, but that site seems to be down.. anyway about 2 weeks ago my wifes started complaining that her 96 855 Auto seemed like it was losing power. I drove it once around town and it seemed fine (I drive a V8, so her car always seemed lacking in power to me) anyway after more complaining from her, I decided to take it to work today. Again regular accelerating seemed fine, until I tried to accelerate hard onto the highway. It Downshifted but felt like it was going nowhere.. After more driving and testing of acceleration I first thought transmission because it seemed like it would take a while to shift into the next gear. After paying close attention to the Tach it seems like the car has a hard time climbing rpms, it really struggles to get up to 4500 rpm. The red line is 6000rpm and since I recently bought the car in August, I know I personally tested acceleration and it would easily whined out to 5500-6k, now it seems to peak at 4500rpm.. If it was the tranny Slipping, I would think the engine would hit the rev limited due to the slippage. Also I think it's delaying the shift because normally under hard acceleration it would whined to 5500 before shifting gears. Is this correct? anyone have any suggestions on what it could be. Other then this the car idles fine, no misfire etc. I have the plugs out back in august and they seemed new or recently replaced. The cap, rotor, wires and fuel filter are anyones guesses. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
