Driver's seat fold down C70

The driver's seat on my '98 C70 doesn't fold down when pulling the appropriate
lever. Any ideas on what's causing this and any suggestions for solutions? It would be much appreciated if someone could provide any ideas or point me to any resources to fix the problem while avoiding a costly dealer service visit.

Most common failure when seatback won't release is a broken actuator cable. The cable runs from the lever and tee's to latches on both sides. Seatback upholstery removal is required to repair.

There is a TSB (tech service bulletin) out on the power seat for that issue. I just had it done for the pass. seat. My car is a 1998, so it's out of warranty, so I had to pay for labor (1 hour).

You may want to get an alldata.com subscription and printout all the TSB's, or save them to disk.

It's good to know what the dealer has to do, and how long it should take.

Is the the seat back stuck in the forward position making
it impossible to drive? Like this /_

If so this happened to my passenger side. Had to have the dealer
repair the seat back cable.

If it's stuck I would try to giggle the seat back lever and seat
at the same time. Maybe you can dislodge the locking mechanism.
