my ac blower did not work for 8 months or more, than i made appointment with volvo dealer for diagnostic with replacement of resistor pak and blower motor as probable outcome (dealer always does the most expensive thing). as soon as i made the appointment to take in car, the blower started working again. it even worked at the dealer. Based upon history and stored trouble codes, they said it was "intermitant failure" and want to replace everything, but they did not have the parts on hand so i took car home (blower worked fine on way home).
any thoughts or suggestions??

    If it does turn out to be the control panel, you can buy one on eBay for $50 - $75. I bought one for my 99 V70 for $75. It took 3 or 4 weeks of watching eBay for that one, but 850 control panels were more plentiful.

    i had the same problem where the blower would not work, then would come on, then would not work again. in my case it turned out to be the control panel. about $600 repair with labor. The air and heat work fine now.

    sounds like a bad relay or a bad intermittent signal... but it may be a pain to find out exactly where it is... also, do the ac off/on and rec off/on lights flash? if they do, they usually can find out where the fault is comign from...

      Bump/kick the passenger side knee bolster. That works in my wife's '94 855. Loose connection maybe?
