Oil on the bevel gear V70-XC70 2000

I just did the 40K oil change and noticed a light coat of oil on the bevel gear. I looked from above and didn't see anything as the obvious source. I go to the deal in about a week for a door panel replacement. What will they say about it? AndI could it be conected to the "jittery" ride I have hade lately? I have had the tires balanced three times (the shop is suspect so it still might be the tires).
Thanks,
Kele'

Oil on the bevel gear V70-XC70 2000

They ALL have a little seapage from the bevel gear vent after they get hot. It's normal.
If you have the original Continental tires, they're the cause of of your vibration and if looked at closely where the tread meets the sidewall, the rubber is probably splitting. All 4 tires then need to be replaced with a better tire.

      Frank,
Thanks for the ideas. I hope it's not the tires, I put Bridgestone Turanza LS-H tires on it about 3,000 miles ago. I don't think they have ever felt very good. Always abit jittery at 70 and above. I'm not that happy with them.
To top it off the tire place didn't set the lift correctly last time for a reballance and put a big dent in the rear floor pan on the drivers side.
What a headache! So I dodn't think I'll be having them do any more to my car.
I just can't afford anymore lifetime for "free" tire work from them.
I think I'll take it to Discount Tire like I should have in the first place.
I guess I have paid the price for saveing a few bucks. Well, leson learned!

As far as the oil leak; no leak this spring at 35K miles, now oil at 40K miles.
This car has been plenty hot going up Vail Pass in the summer more than once.
Why the oil now, if it is a normal thing? I guess I'll wait and see what the dealer says on the 12th.

      Thanks again,
      Kele'

Dealing with tire guys about problematic new tires is no fun as I've been there.
The fluid in the bevel gears is synthetic but when the bevel gears get hot, the fluid expands and seaps out the vent. It's very common and I see that on most AWDs. We usually just degrease them with doing oil changes. On some AWDs, Volvo added a plate on the bottom so that it directs air upwards as they obviously know it's an issue.
