idle speed back to 1000 rpm! 850

Dear All

I cleaned out my idle air motor a couple of weeks ago and this slowed down the idle speed to 850 rpm. After a long run yesterday the car now idles at 1000 rpm.

Should I clean out the idle air motor? Or is it slowly disfunctioning?

Usually I wouldn't bother but as I like this car so much I want to keep it in good order.

Thanks
Matt 93 850 119,000 miles.

Matt, there is nothing wrong with loving your volvo, we all do.

I would not replace the IAC motor just yet (mucho $$$).
Clean the motor again and disconnect the battery for a couple of hours to reset the ECU to a clean IAC motor and see what happens.

first remember that when you have the air on and off the car will take some time to adjust to the differnt engine load.

replace the idle air motor
make sure to pull the battery for a hour or so to reset the apative settings of which idle is one.

just to note, i drive a 5speed 850 NA and it idles between 800 and 950.
mabye your trying to fix something that isnt wrong?

mabye someone knows better what the symptoms are of a bad IAC, but i thought it was fluctating idle on a very short amount of time, not over a feww days.
