How to align PNP Switch when installing? 850

I plan to replace the PNP switch soon, and the only question I have is how to align it in place. I know there is a special Volvo tool for that, but I am not likely to get it by the time I do the job.
Is there a clean way of aligning it without the tool? How about marking the old switch position? What are other tricks?
TIA,
Yuri

How to align PNP Switch when installing? 850

I replaced the PNP switch last weekend. It seems to be working fine, no blinking arrow when shifting.
The job was OK, but messier than expected. It was difficult to mark up the position of the old switch, so I had to guess (no problems so far).
Pulling out the connector block was the hardest, but that was expected.
I also cleaned the flame trap, which, after 20K since last cleaning was quite clogged with crud and oil. Maybe at 118K it gets dirty sooner.

Yuri,

Volvo sells an alignment tool. I have seen bricker in this board and in the VolvoSpeed board doing the replacement without using the Volvo tool. You can search the Volvospeed board or this forum to see how other brickers did it without the tool.
