Can't program remote HELP! 850 1994

Hey everyone, im new to the forum and i just started driving this 850t we have. I recently bought a remote for the keyless entry on ebay cuz we lost ours, but when i try to enter into program mode (turn the key on and off five times) the light on the dash does not flash. i tried doing the procedure ignoring the fact that the light isnt flashing, but it still doesnt work. i was also told that all doors, the hood & the trunk need to be closed and they were. ive tried this many many times and im getting desperate. Anyone please HELP! Thanx in advanced!

Wrong part 850 1994

There is more than 1 possible remote for your '94 850 even though they might look the same. The PNs (and frequencies) are probably different. That's a problem with buying remotes from people on Ebay.
Although not cheap in comparison, a local dealer should have you correct remote.

not Wrong part 850 1994

i understand what you are saying but it doesnt matter what remote it is because i still cant get the car into program mode. The dealer said that when you turn the key on/off five times, the light on the dash would start flashing. After you see it flashing you then try your remote. So even if my remote is wrong, the car should at least flash to let me know that it is in program mode. So as far as i know, something is wrong with the car, and the dealer confirmed this. i didnt want to have them test it because they are way too expensive. i also know that the alarm works because when i lock the car and come back the light on the dash is flashing. thanx frank, can anyone else help me?

.............still yes, wrong part is most likely. 850 1994

For one, I too work at a dealer and have for about 20 yrs. As for the LED, in '94 they don't flash during programming so IF you have the right remote, it'll program IF done correctly. The flashing LED during programing came about in later years.

Many times I see when people come in and often get the wrong remote by the parts guys because if they can't match one by PN, they can easily guess wrong. Whenever I get involved, it's the wrong remote and when given the right remote, it works.

Do you presently have 1 remote that works? If so, have a parts guy match it by the #s on the working remote.

Having a bad control unit receiver is a rare thing and that'd be your only other option if you're certain that you must have the correct remote.

ok 850 1994

In the early 850 yrs the LED didn't flash during programing so I'm unaware of any way to know if you're doing it correctly or not.

I assume then that you don't have 1 working remote?

I can't speak for people who work at other dealers but where I work, many will try to help you program a remote on an older 850 w/o charging you labor. Even a parts guy will try that to sell you the right part as it's so easy that we don't charge labor for that as it takes less than a minute. If one remote doesn't work, we'll try another if in stock. I suppose some dealer people elsewhere might not try that hard but we would. If you're close to a dealer, you could ask if they'd program that for you or if it's the wrong part, will they try another?
The only other part that could be bad is the receiver and I've maybe seen one bad receiver since 850s came out in '92.

turbo quits 850 1994

hey i got an 850 turbo and i recently noticed that after hiting 4000 rpm in 2/3 gear, the turbo stops kicking. i noticed this by watching the gauge. when the car hits 4k rpm the turbo just backs off. i think this started happening when i messed with my intake. i took it apart because i noticed the tube that goes into the airbox, was falling half out. so i took it apart and put it back together. anyone know what the problem could be. Also i noticed a lot of talk about the pnp...what is that? thanx
