Here is an email that I have recently sent to VOLVO - I'm awaiting an official response. The new SAAB 93 is looking more and more appealing..

Subject: Re: ABS Failure Concern (KMM317114V50531L0KM)
Dear Ms. Dorothea *******,
Thanks for the response. My primary concern is not the fact that there is a repair needed on my vehicle - it is the fact that the brakes are failing on your cars! This should not happen to all these vehicles without Volvo addressing the matter and correcting it. I would strongly recommend that a "member of management" contact me ASAP.
I'm writing a letter to my Attorney General at the end of the week. This is negligence. Your aware of the safety issue and not doing anything about it?

Dear Mr. ******,
Thank you for your recent email.
We were sorry to learn of the problems which you have experienced with
the Tracs and ABS lights. Volvo has not issued a recall for these
items. As much as we would desire that no Volvo ever require repairs,
unfortunately, some vehicles may require correction. That is why Volvo
supports its cars with a very comprehensive 4 - year 50,000 miles
warranty, to protect your investment during the period of coverage.
We take concerns of our owners very seriously and wish you to know that
your comments have been forwarded to the appropriate management for
internal review.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond.
Drive Safely,
Dorothea *******

comments: My 1998 S70 GLT has the TRACS and ABS lights on. I have been
informed from multiple dealers and mechanics that this is a common
problem
and will cost me $700.00 to correct.
I posted this concern to several Volvo Forums and there are hundreds of
people with similar problems.
I would like to see this become a recall ASAP. This is a potential
safety
hazaard. Many people, including myself, have experienced eratic braking
after these lights illuminated.
I will wait (30) days for a response before writing a letter to the
Attorney General of Massachusetts, the NTSB, and a local reporter that
covers dangerous defects in automobiles.
