Persistent trouble codes 850 1996

For some time now I have been experiencing the following symptoms:
- trouble codes P0133 and P0422
- poor fuel mileage
- a very subtle (barely noticeable) low frequency engine surge; so subtle as to not show up on either the vacuum guage or the tach, and evident primarily at moderate RPM (~2000), low road speed (10 - 15 MPH) and under a load such as climbing a grade.

MIL will remain off for anywhere from two days to a week. Ignition components and oxy sensor have been recently replaced. Car otherwise feels good, appropriate acceleration, etc.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Change both Oxygen sensors. Both codes are symptomatic of failing sensors. You can order some replacement sensors from FCPGroton.com for $108/$115 each. The poor gas mileage is also a result of bad sensors.

Mike,

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I know there are two sensors, but would have expected a code or codes specific to sensor(s) as those exist. Curious that the OBDII diagnostic data indicates only one sensor.
