Rear break - help needed! 850 1995

I am going to change rear break pads on my '95 GLT. Recieved new original Volvo pads fron Eeuroparts - they came w/ 2 different sets of the shims.
There are 4 shiny metal shims, and also there are 4 shims, coated w/ black substanse (silicone?).

Which set of shims do I use - the shiny or the coated ones?

Thanks for your help

Hi ya,

The OEM shims are of an 'L' shape do you have these ? If not see this link.

I personally would use the clean ones and add a good dose of cooper grease on them to stop the good old squealing, thats probally what the silone is for.

Rear brakes - help needed! 850 1995

I don't have L-shaped shims. Is it possible that the black coated shim goes in between the pad and the metal (shiny) shim?

thanks

Hi ya,

Thats correct, if you following that link i gave you you will see the shims greased up read to put in. The oem ones are that shape by design.
