Just take the key and cycle it (lock/unlock) in the LF outer door lock. That'll wake up the now "sleeping) upper control module. That can occur on occasion but if it's often, only then would I take it to your dealer for that one.

Thanks - it worked by cycling the door lock!

I had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM last year. It happened after I opened the moonroof. Unfortunately I noticed it just as I was trying to close the roof due to the start of a rainstorm!

I quickly thumbed through the owners manual and found that there was indeed a fuse common to the moonroof and dome lights. I replaced it an voila, problem solved.

I have this problem if I jump-start/charge the battery or the battery dies (pretty much anything that resets the dashboard clock). This really freaked me out the first time it happened, as I had just collected my car from the dealer. I got out and locked it, and when I came back, everything worked. I eventually figured out that using the wireless fob to unlock/lock the doors brings the upper control module back on line. It has worked every time for me. This problem also seems to affect the switch on the trunk lid.

If the lock trick doesn't work, check your fuses. If they're OK, get set for a major electronic repair (very, very, very unlikely).
