A/C goes on and off on its own need assistance please. 850

Today i really timed it the first 5-6 minutes it worked fine and then stopped workign nothing came out of it. keep in mind i always have it on rec air after it went off i tried outside air(rec off) still the same thing except for some low air from the outside took about 4 minutes and came back on for 2 minutes and then off for another 4-5 minutes. after i stopped at the bank and thenleft it actually ran until i got home which was about 15-18 minutes. what can be the problem? please help since i will be selling my 1994 with 53k miles T-5 i need to get e\it working like suppose too meaning A/C and small vibration i feel.
