CD Changer 'Auto Eject' Problem 850 1995

Since you all were so helpful with my AC question, I thought that you might be able to provide some guidance with a problem that I am having with my CD changer.

I have the SC-811 head unit with the Volvo-branded CD changer installed in the trunk. This was installed by the dealer prior to my purchasing the vehicle several years ago. The problem is that the cartridge has a tendency to just pop out, becoming jammed against the door, and producing an E-03 error code. This seems to be most prevalent when the outside temperature is warm (above 60 degrees). When it happens, I need to remove the remaining CDs from the cartridge and then insert the cartridge to get the remaining CD out of the unit.

Neither the dealership (Fairfax Volvo and Don Beyer Volvo) nor a radio specialty shop have been able to provide any ideas except to replace the unit. The unit seemed to work OK for the first year or two, but now it is almost impossible to use the CD player.

Any ideas?

I have that same problem. It happens to me when I start the car (not all the time). I get an E-02 code. I have the SC-710 radio and trunk changer. I just keep the door to the changer slightly open so I can push the cartridge back in if it pops out.
