Sounds like a stupid question but I've been reading a lot posts about this problem from brickboarders. What should I be looking for or should I be blissfully unaware until I see large oil puddle.

    I had an old 740 GLE with this problem for a couple of years.. Lots of Pizza boxes like mentioned before, and also just do oil filter changes, losing a qt a month was a standard interval that seemed to match the timing for an oil change.. :>)

    Oil on the garage floor, the entire underside of the engine wet with oil....Things like that, as I have. Mine is minor, but it does leak...

      Is this oil engine motor oil or transmission fluid?

        It's motor oil. You will get a filthy underside, starting at the leak and going all the way back to the gas tank (or further). I have to put a new pizza box on the garage floor every week and a half to soak up the slow leakage.

          Start looking for the leak at around 120.000km's.

            One other thing to look for is a smiling mechanic after coming out from under the car. It's about a $1200US at the dealer. I found an independent that did it for about $750.
