Check your bank account balance. The Evap core is expensive.

BUGS,from what I have seen here and in other VOLVO owner web pages. I believe you have the all to common 98 VOLVO evaporator problem. I went through this ordeal last summer at 62k miles.I had seen symptoms the summer before at 50k miles just as the car was going out of warranty. The dealer recharged the A/C at with dye and gave me the bad news the evaporator was bad and leaking. This is a major job!!!!!! and the repair cost was 1300.00. The reason for the cost is this is a very labor intensive job(ten hours)and includes removing the whole dashboard.I made a major stink and got partial relief from Volvo, they paid 550 and I paid the rest. You can try the recharge route, but in my state no repair shop will not touch a car if its had the recharge with dye once and there is a leak. Volvo has an obvious design flaw in the A/C setup and should step up to the plate and take care of thier customers.I have grave reservations about buying another Volvo . I worry about poor build quality ,lack of factory support and a piss poor resale value...no doubt because of a lack of dependability...My 2cents.....
