Good news/Badnews 850 1995

Just got some good news I think but would appreciate any opinions before I head
over to my local Volvo dealer who I normally avoid like the plague.
Anyway just had my 850 checked over at a trusted transmission shop and the mechanic told me that he dosen't believe there is a AT problem but a problem somehow with my brake system. He has the equipment to retrieve any codes and told me there were none. However he believes that something is causing my brakes to "lock-up", hence the jumping start from a red light and the car not being able to go faster than 45 mph at times. Does anyone know of any service bulletins out there or have an idea what this may be so I at least have a leg to stand on at the dealer?

Thanks!

Maybe totally wrong? 850 1995

Is it possible that you have a sticking front brake caliper? If so, one will usually stick when the brakes get hot (after some driving) and if so, one wheel will be noticeably hotter than the other. When calipers stick, you can't even turn the wheel with the wheels off the ground. Just an idea.

I've seen a failing master cylinder cause those symptoms before. Dragged the whole car down. None of the wheels would lockup, but the car wouldn't move very well at all.... if that helps.

Logically, the only thing that can apply the brakes, other than you trusty foot on the pedal, or a stuck caliper, is the ABS. No ABS codes? Do you have TRAC?

I personally have not heard about this kind of problem, and it almost sounds like a stretch. But I'm sure it will be $$$$.

gerald C;
No I do not have TRAC. What is the correct socket combination again for checking the ABS or braking system?
