Help with sway bar links S70 1998

My swaybar links were identified to be in need of replacement. When I attempted to remove the passanger side, I found them to be under tension after the nut was removed....should I just "pop" them out? Does not appear to be a major factor in my suspension. Any advice with this project would be appreciated.

If you lift the whole front end and put jackstands under the subframe, take both of the front wheels off and there should be almost no tension at all. After that it is just ten-fifteen minutes per link. However, as far as I remember/told, there are 3 desing changes to the links. Each have a different way of loosening style. you either use a 19 mm wrench to hold the ball joint and 21mm to open the nut, or 20-25 torx to hold the ball joint and 21 mm to open/close the lock. good luck.

Thank you...this advice did the trick.....replaced them in less than 45 minutes. The one side appeared worn but not much "wear" evident on driver side. They were identified by a "volvo" tech as needing replacement. Thanks again.

Jack up the car and use jack stands so both front wheels are hanging. You will have very little tention then. If you have one wheel on the gouund and one hanging you will have a lot of tention.
Good luck.

I wouldn't "pop" them out, as it may result in injury, which of course you don't need, and popping them will cost you time and safety to replace since they would need to be installed under tension. I would lift the car to the point that the tension is gone and then remove them. Much safer and you will have no problem replacing them.
