S80 no power to Heat, A/C, fan controls, traction, all controls below radio S80 1999

I replaced the battery. Waited 10 minutes for downloads and all that. After the new battery, everything is fine except the power to panel below the radio. I found a fuse blown to the Aux. plugs, cig. lighter type. I replaced the fuse and still no power for heat or anything. What could be wrong? No problem messages are shown.

Please help.

Try touching the battery cables together, this will momentarily 'wake' up the ECC unit. While its just a temporary fix, it should work. That will be one hour labor.....
Just a note from a friendly Volvo service advisor

Check fuses 23 and 23 behind the access cover at the left end of the instrument panel. Fuse 23 is in the 3rd column (left to right), 4th from the top. Fuse 24 is directly below. Fuse 23 is 5A, fuse 24 is 10A.

You might also have a software problem and require a reload. Volvo mechanics connect a secondary 9V battery and diode via the aux 12V power outlet so power to the memory is not lost while the main battery is disconnected (I've watched them do it). The diode prevents the main battery from applying excess voltage to the 9V battery.

S80 no power to Heat --VOLVOs reputation loses another customer S80 1999

I had checked those fuses. Took it to the Volvo dealer. Plugged into VADIS, $78. Mechanic says no response to Climate Control unit. Needs a new Climate Control unit, only $$$$ 721.00 installed. By the way, this other message says you will need a new Throttle unit soon. I refuse to pay these prices. I'm looking for another way to get it done. How can a battery change damage a $560 Climate control unit? Don't bother following the instructions in your owner's manual. It obviously doesn't matter. Volvo did a poor job of protecting these sensitive circuits, with all the problems with electronics modules, ABS, Climate Control, Engine Control, Transmission, Throttle. Replace all these through the car's life and you pay about $4500. It is just not worth it to own a Volvo any longer. I'm going from the S80 to an Acura or Lexus. I'll take the loss of the S80 if I can get it running long enough to dump it.

Another sad S80 story and a loyal Volvo fan leaving Volvo. When will Volvo (FORD) get the message and start caring? When all the customers are gone is too late.

I had a similar battery-related ECC heater failure with my 99 S70 because I connected a charger to the battery without removing it from the car. Everything went back to normal after I shut down and restarted the engine. The electronics are way too delicate on these cars!

Volvo (FORD) doesn't care. I can't wait to dump mine when lease expires next month. Already have an E320 picked out.
