'emission system service required' S80 1999

I recently received message "emission system service required" and a check engine light. The same message appeared a couple of weeks ago but reset itself. The car appears to be running fine. Any ideas of what might be wrong and will the limited warranty cover the repairs. I have a "99 S80 t-6 with 68K. Thanks for the help.

Try removing anything on your keyring. Weight on the ignition key seems to affect the error messages. I've been running with Key and remote only for a while without an error message. If not, like they say, go plug in and pay the dealer. That's what the dealer wants.

it may be the oxygen sensor starting to go out.its a little early for this sensor to go.they usually fail about 100k miles.but i have had them go earlier.
mine on my maxima would come on after a drive on the interstate and the idiot lite would come on when i was getting off the ramp and then sometime reset itself.after several months,it finally failed after several of these episodes.

Your dealer will need to read codes with their Vadis PC. No point in guessing until then.
