Heater control lighting change 850

One of the bulbs within the heater control housing in my 97 850 is either loose or burned out. It flickered in the past, while tapping the panel, but now will not light at all. How does one go about replacing this bulb?

If it's a ligth for the temperature dials, I was told by my dealer that the light is built in to the actual dial and requires replacement to the tune of $500 for the part alone. Therefore I continue to drive w/ the mode dial light lighting up the right passenger dial.
