Yet another door bubble question... S70 2000

I've got the door panel bubble/separation on 3 of the 4 door panels. Car has 29K on it. Are these panels covered by the standard warranty, or only the first 12 months? The owners manual is vague.
Thanks.
KC

Yet another door bubble question... S70 1996

Door Panel Insert Repair Kits are now available from the Volvo dealer. I paid 50 dollars for the front and 50 dollars for the rear kits. The service bulletin number is 85-0015.

Yet another door bubble question... S70 2000

I've got the same problem...happened on every door except the driver's...and seemed to happen all at the same time.

Mine's a '98 out of warranty with 62K miles. Any ideas?

I went ahead and asked the guys over at Swedish Engineering here in Atlanta how much they could get the panels for...here's their reply:

the door panels are 350.00 each I would need the interior code ,
          located on
          the vin plate

$350 a panel? $1400 for the parts alone on this? You have GOT to be kidding me. Anyone know how to get in touch with a regional Volvo sales rep or anything of that nature?

          Grrrrrrrrr.

I do believe that's for all 4 inserts.

According to Swedish Engineering....it's per door. Screw that. That's absurd.

Is that $350 per door or for the set of 4? If it's $350 per door, I'm going to live with the bubbles. That's $1400! Yikes!

I'll let my doors fall off before I pay that outrageous price! That's the price I got from the dealer near me.

This is an age old problem for Volvo. Back in 1988 I bought a new 760 Turbo, black with tan interior. The two driver side door panels started doing the same bubble and peel trick at just after 12 months. I didn't get it to the dealer until the car was 14 months old and they told me "tough luck" since the 12 month all inclusive warranty was up and it would cost almost $500 per door to fix. I appealed to the regional service rep and was turned down flat. I was told it was a common problem then too, but they offered nothing on my behalf.

It wasn't until I visited another dealer in another region and mentioned the problem that anyone took notice. The other dealer came to the rescue and bought in their rep and they agreed to replace the panels for free as a good will gesture knowing I had not even bought the car there. I was happy to give this other dealer all my business from then on even though they were twice as far as the one who sold me the car.

If your car is not too far out of the 12 month warranty, you might try a different dealer in another county.
                  Dave Barton
