I was messing around with the car today and i took out the area with the coin tray and i saw electrical connectors where the seat heating switches would go.

My car doesn't have the cold weather package so no seat heaters :(...

So my question is, can i just buy the switches for the heaters and have the toasty buns i want? I figured since they put the wiring in why not the elements and just let the dealer put the switches and make the money? I have seen alot of pre-wiring on volvos. Thanks for the help.

Look under the seats themselves to see if you have wires with plugs from the seat cushions. If not, there's no elements under the cushions BUT they can be added. One could add elements, switches and anything else required to make it work but may not be inexpensive. Besides OEM Volvo, there are companies who install aftermarket seat heaters as well.

Has anybody out there upgraded or added heated seats to an S70 (leather, GLT)? If it is best done with aftermarket suppliers, who are some? I got spoiled by the heated seats on my 740. The S70 is a nice car and was a good deal, but lacked the cold weather package. Thanx.

John: Just below your name in the message is '2000 S70 GLT SE'. If that is your car, and if your car has leather seats, the heater elements should be there and it's a mystery why the switches are not. The 2000 GLT SE should include most all the options available in 2000 - mine certainly does and the sales brochure says that heated seats are standard equipment on the GLT Special Edition.

If you have the leather and a GLT SE I think a visit to the dealer is in order because Volvo should install, at no charge, the switches which were omitted in assembly.

I have seen alot of 2000 Glt Se's with out the heated seats, i know that they usually come as a cold weather package but mine S70 has neither heated seats or headlamp washers. I want those seats cuz i had them on my old 850 and i miss them. Did you say that you also had a 2000 S70 GLT SE? That is the car i am driving. But it makes sense that the "Special Edition" should have the heated seats along with the rest of the options.
