Brake Caliper Paint Recommendation 850

Does anyone have a recommendation on a paint to use for painting the brake calipers. About 3 months ago I put on new calipers on both front and rear. Now I notice rust. Any tips on doing this job?

Brake Caliper Paint Recommendation - Update 850

    Thanks for all the advise.

I went with high temp engine paint. Job was easy. I jacked up one side of the car at a time and masked off the brake discs and other areas I didn't want paint on. Waited about 4 hours and put the wheels back on and did the other side. Used a gloss black which looks very nice with my platinum white color.

I used regular old touch up paint, the kind in the skinny bottle with the brush attached to the cap. It's still bright red a year later, you don't need all the heat rated stuff and you can actually do it with the wheels on. Make it easy. Now if you have loose rust on the caliper you prob. should primer them and remove the wheels etc.

I just painted my '02 Blue Mazda Protege 5 with silver calliper paint. I used the VHT Calliper paint, and it looks great. Take time to do it properly, tape off all area's and prep with brake cleaner and wire brush (remove rust). Apply several thin coats...6 should do. I haven't painted my volvo one's yet...can't decide on colour...possibly silver, but maybe red. cheers.

Check asian import aftermarket sites on the web by searching google and you should find plenty. I have used Optionsauto.com for a few misc. things and their prices are fair and the service is pretty cool. There sould be about 5 flavors of paint. All of which are better than the organic rusty look. Happy huffin -Stu.

I would go with Dutch Boy or some other name brand house paint. Definately stay away from satin finish paints!

    LOL J/K.

They sell paint specially formulated for this purpose. Check your local Pepboys or other autoparts store.
