Another Question Often asked, but not answered 850

Let's see if we get an answer this time round so as not to have to post it again !!!!! I know that some OBD II software will read all fault codes, and some will only read engine/transmisson fault codes. Now, someone out there knows which ones do, so could you please let us know what they are. We don't want to have to buy half a dozen of them (software packages) to find out the one we need. What we need is a software that we can load into a laptop to read engine/tranny codes as well as chasis and body codes. The airbag codes don't matter. Let's see if we can come up trumps on this one!!!!!

I've seen posts regarding the software from this site "http://www.obd-2.com", but unsure of it's features.

    Still No Joy 850

I've done all you suggest. Yes. I've trawled the web. All I've asked, over and over again, is "Are there software packages out there that will read all the fault codes from the OBD port of my '97 850? If I am to go to the dealer and pay him $200 for a readout, then I may as well give that much for a software package that I will still have for the next time. All I've asked here is which one will do the job for me? Is that too much to ask?

      YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE....

OK I read all your posts, and your responses to yourself.

You sound like a dick. You ask questions like a dick. The couple folks that know the answer to your ignorant question will not answer becaue your are more than likely an ungrateful dick.

This is NOT an ask the experts forum. It's a group of owners. Several of which I know to have the OBDII code output you need.

A little politeness goes a long way, chump. It's really funny to see an ignorant person get all pissed when he thinks others are ignorant.

    ... not answered 850

I posted a question a few days ago about why questions go unanswered.

One reason cited was that a lot of people do not answer questions posed by people "claiming to be", another was a dearth of readers during the summer. Having a profile can be handy - For instance I can look at information about Erwin and see that he posts quite a bit, he even posts information that he comes across without being asked. Some people might take a few extra moments to help him because of this.

Are you going to post your findings at some later date?

You might get more response by asking for some advice instead of asking a compound question.

What have you found by doing a search?

I view this site is more of a community than "Ask Jeeves" Just my 2 cents.

Another Question Often asked, but not answered....Not Yet 850

Yipeeeee. One in three of the replies are of some use. Now to further the question. Is this the only OBD II reader to give readouts of all codes, or are there others? And what about palm helds?? Are there softwares for these that will give a readout of all codes, and not just power plant/transmissions? I'm sure there must be. But which ones are they?? Let's see if we get a better response this time !! Let' see how helpfull those with the information really are at shareing it

what model year are you asking about? the OBD2 connector only reads motronic and TCM codes in cars with the DLC under the hood. '96 and up can all be read through the port in the console

    I'll try 850

I highly doubt that this question will be answered here because only those from independant shops are likely to desire such software IMHO. Those guys are likely to buy whatever is deemed best from their own research and might also depend on what's available at reasonable prices from tool distributors. It's likely that they'll buy software that'll work with cars other than Volvos too being that they'll need that for other types.
