replacing spark plugs in V40 S40-V40

I am getting ready to replace the spark plugs in my wife's 2000 V40. It appears that the OEM plugs are Champion. Should I stick with the Champs or switch to ? Any recommendations welcomed. Also any tips on installation appreciated. What are the gap specificatons?

This is the first time I have worked on the V40. Car has 30,000 miles.
Changed air filter. Have yet to do an oil change. Dealer has been doing them so far. Haven't crawled underneath to look.....how difficult is it to reach the air filter?

Would certainly appreciate any DIY tips for basic maintenance.

Is anybody else having problems with the drivers side shoulder harness strap "sawing" its way through the plastic door pillar cover?

Has anybody added an anti-roll bar to the V40?

Thanks to everybody for your help.

Changing oil in the S40 is pretty easy. I use a pair of Rhino Ramps. 30 bucks at Autozone. Drain plug faces toward the back of the oil pan so putting the front end up a bit will not trap oil in the pan.

I was able to remove and install the filter housing with no tool. Just twist on/off by hand. Yeah you gatta really crank it on when doing it by hand but it worked for me.

the stock plugs are not champion, they are Volvo. the Volvo plugs are the best, use those, they come gapped for you already when you purchase them.
the airfilter is on top, easy access right behind the battery
my seat belt strap has "cut" a nice groove into my plastic b-pillar trim
anti-roll bar helps a bunch!

thanks for info S40-V40

hey thanks for your help

I meant to ask about the location of the oil filter not the air filter. Lousy proofreading.

Have changed air filter. I think I would eventually like to do my own oil changes. So how hard is it to reach the OIL filter.

Volvo dealer said they would replace plastic door pillar under warranty

thanks for info S40-V40

ever change the oil filter on a chevy 350? same style and just as easy, bit different orientation but easy nonetheless.
s40 only uses filter cartridge replacement for oil filter.

Nope never changed oil on 350 unless its the same as a vintage 66-67 327. But that was a long l-o-n-g time ago.

Anyways, I am assuming from your message that it is a pretty simple procedure.

BTW I think I might try NGK Platinum PFR6G plugs. Found them for $11.71/plug.
