when i start my 96 850 Turbo up, the rpm's rise to around 2000rpm's and then drops to normal idle. does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what can i do to fix this problem. could it possibly be a dirty throttle body or what. thanks.

    My '93 N/A and my '96 855T both had/have a high RPM "burst" at start-up. This is programmed into the ECU to help build oil pressure quickly. In other words, it's supposed to do that.

    I would suspect the idle control valve. I had this problem many years ago on my 85 245 NA. Did you check for any codes set? Look for either 2-2-3 and/or 2-4-5. Good luck.
