Help On Manual Boost Controller Install?... 850 1995

...Just Got By Unit in the Mail...But, Hmmmm...I'm Not Too Informed on the
Connection Points for This "Simple" Installation...It Is By Diamond Star Specialties, Built Nicely, But There Is An Assumption I "Know" Certain Things...
Are There Any Good Sites , Or Pictures to Help Me Identify; The Blow-Off Valve
Hose Location, The Compressor Discharge Elbow...ANY Help Would Be APPRECIATED...
My Boost Gauge Is Forthcoming...I Just Want to Set Myself Up Well Before I Start
...BTW, the Unit Is Very Compact (NOT Like A Plumbers Nightmare)...I Have A 1995
T-5R and Want to Do This Right...THANX!...AL...My Email: GODZZLA@COX.NET...Bye!

Help On Manual Boost Controller Install?... 850 1995

I just installed the Dawes MBC to my car, which also has the IPD ecu. It really helps the low - mid range, much better boost at these RPM's. The instructions that I downloaded from the UK gang were helpful. Basically your are hooking the vacuum line from the compressor housing to the barbed end of the MBC. You hook the vacuum line on the discharge end of the MBC to the waste gate actuator. Then I inserted screws in the lines that were cut at the controll solenoid and map intake (air intake). I now need a boost gauge to monitor levels more accurately.

Wills, I recently purchased a boost guage from JC Whitney on line. It is a complete kit with installation instructions and it cost me less than $20.

I would be careful on buying a boost gauge, when you are soley relying on it for boost control monitoring. The ECU is not involved with boost when connected as per instructions, so it will not correct overboost. However, involving the ECU will cause spiking in pressure, and ultimately the ECU will correct back down to stock boost, thereby defeating the purpose of the MBC. So make sure your gauge is accurrate and reliable. Interestingly, I have had conversations with Scott @ IPD, he was curious on how the car ran with MBC and his ECU, so far very well. He also concurred that if the ECU is involved that check engine lights might appear along with the above. I guess I am the test case...story of my life.

Have Fun

Help On Manual Boost Controller Install?... 850 1995

The oone on t5uk, takes away the power of your ecu , so if you over boost it would not knock the stock boost back down to prevent knocking.Y ou might end up blowing your motor this way. I installed mines this way locate the wastegate and the line that comes of the wastegate nipple(vacuum) it goes to a tree near the airbox. Take of that hose install it to the side with the little breather hole on the boost controller and the other end goes back to the the line headind to that tree I spoke about before. Just basically take the hose they give you (grey) install it on the waste gate nipple and the hose that you took of goes to the other sdide of the wastegate. Hopes this help and happy boosting by the way I like the way your car loos Godzilla.
