Amsoil voids manufacturer warranty?

Does anyone know if using Amsoil (dare I say scamsoil) voids the volvo factory warranty due to the fact that it is not API certified and the volvo manual recommends using and API certified oil?

I read in an earlier post that API certification is very basic and doesn't hold a lot of weight in the engineering field...and that AMSoil doesn't feel the need to bow to substandard certifications...wouldn't they just want to have the certification to protect their customers warranties on their vehicles? If the product is higher quality, why be afraid of the API certification test...or could their oil not pass it?

I'd like to believe, but this smells like that old "Marvel Mystery Oil".

Are their any high performance vehicles which roll off the line with scamsoil in them? Like porsche does with Mobil1 or others with Valvoline syth?

    Amsoil voids manufacturer warranty? NO.

    Again with the scamsoil thing??

    from http://www.amsoil.com/frequent.htm#warranty

Absolutely not! Manufacturers’ warranties are based upon the use of oils meeting specific API Service Classifications, for example, SJ/CF. (AMSOIL lubricants meet the current API Service requirements and, thus, are perfectly suited for use in any new vehicle without affecting the validity of the new vehicle warranty)

Amsoil easily meets the API requirements. They are NOT afraid of the "tests".

It's very evident that some folks don't understand the difference between passing the tests and paying to have the formulation controlled by API. By the way Amsoil does have some of their lesser grades of oil with the API sunburst - so this means API has the formulation, now if Amsoil wants to improve the formulation of these oils they must resubmit for the 18-24 month process. And believe me Exxon/Mobil, etc get special treatment in those lines (and tests).

If Amsoil ever failed the tests....let me tell you the world would know. Castrol, Mobil, Shell, Chervon would be sure of that.

As for cars coming off the line with any type of oil - it's up to the lowest bid and who knows who....

The real reason the majority of the Amsoil oils are not API certified is very simple. The compound that does the majority of the lubricating (molybdenum based) is used in high percentages in most Amsoil oils and the API certification limits the amount that can be used. After much research I agree with the way Amsoil does things. Most car and oil manufacturers think that when moly is used in high quantities, it can damage the catalytic converters. There is some validity to this, but because most oils are lose about 15-17% of their mass this is why this is valid. Amsoil is much lower, around 9%.

Let me know if I didn't answer any questions.
