Okay, I'm going to start changing my own oil. I've seen posts that some engines require a filter wrench. Is a special one required for '98 V70? I looked at IPD and only saw the S80. If a special one is required, is there a better source (read "less expensive") than the dealer?

'98s use the "old style" metal filter seen since The Beginning of Time. The '99s started using the "cartrage" type (replacable insert) filter.

Look under the car, right front corner.

I have a 98 V70 T5 and losen the filter with my hand. The local pep boys have filter wrenches for about 3 bucks.
