Magnecor Wires 850 1996

So if I optioned for the more expensive Magnecor spark plug wires over OEM wires, does this mean I no longer need to replace them? Thx.

Maybe. But for the cost of Magnecors you could replace wires several times.

True. At 100k, I'll have to decide whether I want to upgrade the coil and use Magnecors, or stick with trusty OEM wires.

Due to the design of the Mag's, they will be the last set of wires you put on the car. Are they worth the extra money? Not in my opinion. Do they make a difference? Yes. How so? Much smoother through the rpms under heavy load (i.e. acceleration), some report better mileage, idling, etc, but it is all relative to the wires that were replaced. Why am I running them? A friend had an S70T5SE that he wrecked, and sold them to me for $50 Canadian, with only about 3K km on them. Would I pay the $200+ or so US for them? HELL NO!

Fair enough. But considering that I will be replacing my wires every 100k if I stick with OEM wires, it'll be just about the same in terms of overall cost. Will flip a coin to make decision.

You do know you'll have to go through about 3 to 4 sets of Volvo's Bougicord spark plug wires to equal the same cost as Magnecores right? That's 300,000-400,000 km.

To help cut the tie, I would suggest, if you are happy with the stock wires, stick with them. If you want a slight, but somewhat noticeable improvement, and are willing to pay for it, go for the Mags.

Yeah, that's right. I'm being optimistic. I hope to make my brick last that long, run it to the ground until all I have left is the steering wheel.

Thanks for the advise, I still 13k before making my decision. Cheers.
