Sounds like an old submarine radar blip 850

I have a new noise. It happens on take off, sounds like it's coming from the left side and is very similar to the 1970's sound effect of submarine radar. A metallic tone with an echo. It does it twice and every time from a top. Very quiet but it is there and making me crazy.

Any ideas? Should I install a periscope? Should I start yelling, "DIVE, DIVE, DIVE!"

Thanks

And I see you have the machine that goes 'PING'! 850

TWICE on every start from a complete stop? Does it do it the other way, when you're slowing to a stop, or just starting? Could it actually be a squeak or screech? Louder with the window open? Also, do you have the infamous loose driver's seat "click"? How about a broken spring?

(I'm also baffled. What color is your car?)

Where can I find a fix for the driver seat thing please?

Better get a bucket... 850

I think it all depends on whether he has the palm of his hand up or down as he pulls the external driver-side door handle. (but color probably matters, too) ;)

I changed my socks and it seemed to get a little quiter.

It is definitely the passenger side. I was thinking maybe the caliper is sticking on the rear side and is the noise of it releasing. Of course this is only a SWAG.

I'll try the hand thing but it's red so I don't think that will work unless I have on a glove.

I think that is one of the funniest things I have read in quite a while. LMAO!

;)

Have we invented a holistic way of fixing our Volvo's?
