Hey all I have a '94 854T w/ poor idle in all gears, I have heard that cleaning the TB could help this. Any recources or information on how to get to it, cleaning it, etc... Thanks in advance! ~Cody Julian

Follow the first few steps in the instructions to clean the
flame trap to get to the throttle at:

    http://volvospeed.com/Repair/ftrap.htm

Then just wipe out any crudy buildup in the throttle
with a clean rag and some light solvent.

The last thing I do is check that the throttle works freely and
no tears or pieces of the rag were left in there.

      Ray or whoever-
One more question, what does the TB look like? Im lost under that cover. I also have a Turbo so it seems to be a little more complicated. Thanks ~Cody

Along with cleaning out the flame trap, and throttle body, I would also clean out the intercooler, and idle by-pass. Cleaning everything except for the idle control/idle by-pass may still leave the symptoms you have now.

Also, make sure you use a high quality intake cleaner that is O2 sensor and catalytic convertor safe. I do this on my 855T once a year, along with an engine flush and BG for the fuel injectors. And every time, it's like a totally different engine.

It is the round object in the lower left corner in this image:

Here is one from a corvette that is a better side view:

You can see a bunch if you go to google.com and pick images thn
        search on throttlebody.

The area around the butterfly plate gets gunky over time and is
        what needs cleaning.
