2000 s40 26,000 miles

my check engine light goes on and off every 7 days or so.......what is happening here?

Just got a "Campaign Notice" on check engine light. Possibly a "software upgrade" or a "new diagnostic pump check valve". That's all folks!!!

Could be anything. You will need to find an OBD-II scanner or take it to a dealer for diagnosis. My guess is you need an ECU software upgrade. Volvo is about to announce recall 109, which is a software upgrade and replace a check valve in the EVAP system.

Yes,

I had the check engine light come on, took it to the dealer and they found it to be a check valve like you said. Speaking of recalls is there one in place for the light burnout problem? or the inaccurate fuel gauge?

I don't think the fuel gauge is inaccurate at all. Its just padded some for those who really push it. So what if their is 2.5 gal left in the tank at fillup. I never have put more than just a little over 13 gallons in at a time.

well,

I did thought it would be padded, BUT the Tank can hold 16 galons, and when i get the Gasoline light I fill it all the wat and still only put in 12 gallons max. now call me crazy but i think 4 galons is quite a lot to be called "out of gas"
Anybody else has this problem?
