air filters for S40 S40-V40

I tried to buy a new air filter for my 2000 S40 from an auto supply store. I bought a Fram brand and a Motorcraft brand(I think) and neither seemed to fit properly. They were about half the price that the Volvo dealer was selling them for so I thought I would try it. Did the store sell me the wrong size? Has anybody else had this problem?

    Get a K&N Engineering part # 33-2763. It is the best air filter in the world. It is permanent. You clean it and retreat it after 50K miles. It actually flows more air than a stock filter and gives an increase in HP that you can sense.

    Motocraft is OK. The Fram is a total waste of money. If you ever cut one open, and also the Volvo (Mann) one, you'll see why.. I'd stick with the Volvo OEM. This pertains to both oil and air... Just my $0.02
