Shock suggestions? 850

I'm shopping for rear shocks for my 1996 855T. A couple of questions:

1) Is there any difference in ride between the Bilstein monotube (heavy duty) and twintube (touring class) struts?

2) Are Koni struts ajustable to be softer than the Bilsteins?

I realize that my springs are responsible for much of the ride of the car, but I would appreciate any suggestions on choice of struts (biased more towards ride than handling -- my wife and kids use the wagon).

Thanks,
Eric

I just replaced my stock units with Bilstein monontubes, made a huge difference. The car still rides very firm, but is softer over small bumps thancstock.

Tire profile makes a big diffence as well. I have tried higher profile tires which gives a smoother ride. I had 55 profile, but went back to 50 series when I changed the struts and shocks.

    Good Luck

Do you feel the car rides firmer over bumps than stock? I am trying to decide also but am afraid that the montubes will be too harsh.

Please do not waist your $$$$$$$$$ nothing you can do about the 850 suppension..

it just plain suck...... every one try to improve but nothing work..

850 is great we love the car but every time I hit the bump.... I just hate life...

every......... so bit the bullet and live with it.....

You can spend more money to making it more harder stiffer but never softer....

every one said this every who done it said the same /// I check with all dealer and all shop same result....
