strange sqeaking noise on low speed S40-V40

Recently, my 2000 S40 developed a wierd sqeaking noise on the rear passenger
wheel. It is like a metal to metal touch while in a very low speed, e.g. just
put the gear in drive position and does not touch the brake and let the car go
with the engine power. The dealer lubricated all the brake parts and
hand brake cable but the sqeaking noise is still there. I was told that the brakes are fine. There are probably a few thousand miles life left before I replace the rear pads. 4mm left on the rear. Is it kind of normal when pads
are getting thinner? Does anyone have the similar experience?

Thanks.

The rear pads have what's called "warning sensors" which is a small piece of metal that's designed to rub, giving you advanced warning before the pads themselves grind into the rotors, which gets more expensive.
Get new pads installed ASAP as they typically don't last long in S/V 40s as it is. A problem that those cars have is that the pad to caliper clearance is too tight so they rust easily, stick in place (don't slide freely) and wear out pre-maturely. When I replace those pads (and a few others that fit too tightly), I carefully grind the ends of the new pads a bit and lube them so that they move freely in the calipers as they should.
