What do you think I could get if I sell? V70-XC70 1998

Hello all. It's starting to look like we'll need more space then the beloved Turbo Brick can provide. After checking www.kbb.com, I was wondering what you all think I could get for my baby:

1998 V70 T5(M) Nordic Blue with sunroof and 50 series tyres. For those of you who may not remember, this car has history. It was a Volvo corporate car driven by a Swedish VIP during his stay in USA before I bought it. The car was always serviced at Rocheigh HQ in NJ. Since then, I've kept Mobil 1 in it, added ipd sway bars and OMP strut brace. Last week I did 70k service including timing belt and "fan" belt, as well as new front pads/rotors.

This car is very close to perfect with a few minor marks on the rear bumper and one door ding. Windows are tinted, and I've got a Nokia Hands Free phone setup installed, and the wiper relay as well.

What do you think? Can I get $19k out of it? Do I hear $18k?

Your thoughts? I'm concerned that the 5spd would take longer to sell to anyone who does NOT really appreciate it.

I really like the car, but I'm afraid it just might have to go. Does anyone know of a good home for it? Please let me know (ASAP!!!).

Thanks.
Adam

New cars are so cheap now and so the used cars are cheap too. It's a lot less than a year ago...

I find Edmunds.com's data quite accurate. I like it because it penalizes more on mileage than kbb and I buy only high mileage car. I just bought a 1997 850 wagon with 87k miles, CD, leather, winter package, auto, for $9,000 from a dealer. That is BELOW the edmunds' trade-in value.

So, unless someone really really want to have your T5M, you'll be lucky to get $15k.

    Good luck!

Try kbb.com or edmunds.com "private party value". While a manual might be more difficult to sell in your local classifieds, people who want manuals really WANT manuals, you might consider advertising in something with wide circulation, like Hemmings Motor News or the New York Times classifieds or Rolling or listing it on e-bay with a high reserve.

Sounds nice, but I already have a T5m which my wife HATES and I think my wife would divorce me if I brought another one home!

check out www.kbb.com. note if the buyer is going to be modifing anything, as aftermarket parts can devalue a car if someone doesn't care for them, but exactly the opposite for someone who does.

    how come u're selling? that's too bad...it's a keeper.

      Thanks for the advice.

It pains me to sell it. My wife's finally moving into a mini-van (MPV likely) and we have to get rid of either her C280 or my T5(M). Since mine is a stick that she can't drive, and we both love driving her car, PLUS mine is worth more, I'll probably let mine go.

Since you're kinda local (other side of The River, as I recall), do you know anyone who'd like it? It's really been well cared for. My cars always are.

      Let me know.
