ECU upgrade...

Well, after researching this for the last 2+ months and looking at more than 7 different companies, I took the plunge (yesterday) and sent the ECU of my car to IPD for the new upgrade on the ME7 Motronic EMS. Preliminary info claim HP increase from 247 to 280 and the torque from 243 to 300. Boost goes from 10psi to 18psi...I should get it back tomorrow and can't wait to plug it back into my car and see the difference.

Will post later on this weekend with the (expected) differences in the driving behavior of the car!

    18 PSI, wow!

I thought IPD had a core exchange program. Are the ECUs
"locked" to the vehicle on the newer cars?

I'm very close to ordering their ECU for my 98 S70 T5M myself.

      Ray,

yes, that is what they claim. On a MY1999 or newer Volvo, there is no exchange of the ECU. Each ICU, because it is tied to the car's immobiliser system, is specific for each car, so you just send in your ECU and they flash it.

Looking forward to the results, Yannis. I'm selling my '98 V70GLT AWD and have already replaced it with a '96 855 Turbo. Was also looking at chips. PES Tuning, in particular. It would be awhile, though.

Good luck, hope everything turns out well. You might as well order new tires now. :)
