Tire Chains 850 1995

Hello,
Does anyone have success using snow chains other than the expensive Spike Spiders on 195 60R15 tires?

I have tried fitting the Shur Grip Z chains (SZ-323), and the inner buckle has almost no clearance to the strut, this would likely occasionaly hit the strut.

Snow tires or studs are not an option.

Thanks,
Forrest2

I have Weissenfels Artic Track 3030 chains for my 850. Same size tires as yours. They are made for the small S-type fender clearance and they really can be installed in about 1 minute each once you get the hang of them. Cost is $90US but Weissenfels also makes a 1000 series chain that has most of the same features and sells for $50.

Check out whether Gear on the Go (www.gearonthego.com) has a store near you or will ship. They are also offering a 25% discount coupon. Other possibility is to try www.weissenfels.com and see if they have a distributor listing.

Your Volvo dealer has chains that are designed for the cars but they want $300. I am quite pleased with my Weissenfels. Only concern is with the plastic ratchet mechanism and only time will tell about that.

I bought the cable chains from peerless.

at wal-mart which sucked (I hate shopping there)
but the price was about $30.00
and they fit

you can't go over 30mph with them
and you put them on and then adjust them tighter after about a 1/4 mile

but they work and they're not too much cash.

they are a pain to remove though
