Volvo child seats V70-XC70 2001

Has anyone heard what the status is on Volvo's child seat safety seat system and its release to North America? Has the seat been submitted to NHTSA for approval? Does anyone have any idea when this Volvo LATCH seat will be made available to dealers for sale?
Otherwise, any opinions on the Britax Roundabout, Advantage or the Fisher Price Safe Embrace II LATCH seat? My child will soon be too big for his infant seat.
Thanks,
Ian

No word,yet...But you canuse any other brand which uses ISOFIX in your Volvo.

Britax seems to have one of the best (if not THE best) names in the industry.

Unfortunately they only make a latch seat for todlers, none in the convertable infant-todler type and it is forward facing. I would like to keep my son rear facing as long as possible. They have also had some substantial recalls. http://www.safetyalerts.com/rcls/category/seat.htm#britax Volvo's system, at least from all of the pictures that I have seen seems to be the sturdiest and safest.

One other question for you:
How far back does the WHIPS seat move the seat back down? Even with my infant seat mounted in the center of my wagon, it comes into contact with the front passenger seat. I am concerned what might happen in a rear impact as the seat back moves down and contacts the child seat which i gather will be larger than the infant seat. Is this a feature that the dealer can disable?
Thanks,
Ian
