Questions on 850 wagon HELP! 850 1997

I just brought home a beautiful 1997 850 wagon over the weekend.

Questions:
(1) Can you remove the 2 black "nipples" on the floor of each of the front seats (for holding the factory floor mats in place)? If so, how? On the 1995, I can simply unscrew them. I'd like to use rubber mats.

(2) There's an annoying wind noise on the driver's side when the speed is 50 mph or above. Is there anything that I can do about it?

(3) There're a couple of burnt out lights on the temperature control panel, is it easily accesible and does it use the same bulb as others (such as the gear shift bulb)? I'm guessing you gain access via the radio.

(4) It feels faster than my 203k miles' 1995 850 GLT and the suspension is more civilized. Did they make any improvement on that to a 1997's?

Thanks!

As far as the noise goes (this may seem like a stupid question) does it have a sun / moonroof and where does the noise seem to be coming from. I always found those deflectors (or whatever there are called) to be noisy especially with a little age. And if the moon roof is of track or slightly skewed or not all the way closed (at least this was the case with my 240's) the noise was horrendous.

Like i said may be stupid, but sometimes helpful

    Wind noise 850 1997

I have a 97 855R wagon. I don't hear any wind noise. I would suggest checking the plastic pieces that direct water up and down the sides of the windshield. Then check the weatherstriping between the door and the body.

Comparing the driver's and passenger's sides should help since you mentioned that you only hear it on the driver's side.

Pull the knobs off of the temp control panel carefully (be sure to make sure the little metal retaining clips don't fall off the knobs) to gain access to the bulbs. It is an easy fix.

      Thanks! I'll try it tonight.

What about the illumination for the radio buttons (CD, changer, and tape buttons)?

A 97 GLT has the low pressure turbo engine (first year) so it
should be quite a bit faster then the 99. I also think the
suspensions got a bit softer each year. We have a 95 855 GLT
and 98 S70 T5 and the S70 T5 suspension is much softer and
offers a better street ride then the 95 (the 95 does not
    have the optional sport suspension).

      Hi Ray,

Thanks for your info. Both of my 850s are with NA engine! The 97 is not a GLT. I'm guessing they made some minor twicking to the NA engine?

      Sorry, I meant "95" where I said "99".
